EWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW
WWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW
WWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW
Eric is groooooossssssssssss..... and yet... while throwing severed arms at people, spiting out blood, and basically just drenching himself in blood.... I still find him so incredibly hot.

Wow, Bill is an asshole. Yes yes I know he's supposed to be a complete dick. This is why they break up. But it seems a little early and sudden for him to shift into such heavy toolness. I mean, it's like all of a sudden out of almost nowhere he's mean to Sookie and rough with her. It would be awesome if they powered though the plot of Dead in Dallas and made this season a mix of that and Club Dead. However I doubt that will happen since "Bill's missing." would be the best cliff hanger for the season finale.

The fellowship is creepy... the writers sure did make Jason messed in the head...

Wah... I really need to power though the rest of the books. Perhaps I will try to do that this week/next week while I'm stuck in bed. Not like I don't have a long list of shows to watch to keep me entertained too... but then ethidda will stop bugging me so she can talk to me about book 9. lol

再 (zài) - again
见 [見] (jiàn) - see
明 (míng) - bright/clear
天 (tiān) - day/sky/heaven
When combined 再见 means "See you again," or "Goodbye" and 明天 means tomorrow. 明天见 becomes "See you tomorrow."

对不起 [對不起] (duì bù qǐ) - I'm sorry!
对 [對] (duì) - correct/to answer/to reply/couple/pair
起 (qǐ) - to rise/to raise/to get up
不 (bú) - not
关 [關] (guān) - to concern/to involve/to close/to shut/to turn off
系 [係] (xì) - connection/relation/tie up/bind
关系 - relation/reason
不 is another negative meaning "not." From what I can tell the difference between 不 and 没 is their usage. 没 seems to be used to negate the existence or possession of something. "I don't have it" or "There isn't a..." While 不 negates that something is equal or like something else. "It's not hot" or "It's not mine." Adding the negative 没 makes 没关系 mean "That's alright."

谢谢 [謝謝] (xiè xie) - to thank/thank you
客气 [客氣] (kè qi) - polite
不客气 - You're welcome

I only have a few comments to make about the first episode. I'll put it behind a cut since... ethidda is probably working, and thus on the internet. And I know she hasn't watched yet.

么 [麼] me - [Interrogative suffix]
什 (shén) - what
为 [為] (wèi) - because of
谁 [誰] (shéi) - who
怎 (zěn) - how
没 [沒] (méi) - have not/not/[negative prefix for verbs]
(le) - [Completed action marker.  Identifies clause as past tense.]

Using the interrogative word 么, 什么 becomes "what?" or sometimes "who?" 为什么 literally means, "because of what?" or more commonly, "why?" 怎么 just emphasizes the meaning and makes it a question, "how?"

什么 can also mean "something" or "anything" and adding the negative 没 makes 没什么 literally mean "not something" or "nothing," "never mind," or "it's nothing."

怎么了 means "what happened?"  And 没怎么了 is a way to say "nothing happened."

To refer people and things in the third person the same word is used. The tone is the same... the syllable is the same.
The only difference is how it is written. All the characters for living things share the element on the right, while the left radical changes to change the meaning slightly. 亻 (or 人) meaning person or man, 女 meaning female, 牛 meaning cow or ox (thanks [info]dipropylene ), and 礻 meaning spirit.

(tā) - He/Him

(tā) - She/Her

(tā) - It (used for inanimate objects)

(tā) - it (used for animals)

(tā) - he, it (used for Gods/spirits)

For anyone who hasn't noticed, Korean lesson notes have migrated to [info]learn_Korean.
It's now getting replaced with my Chinese notes here. lol

I've decided to used simplified characters as my primary writing style since the larger portion of China uses it and it will be easier for me to learn to write. However, I do plan to learn how to read traditional as well, that way I can read both and type both. *pats her handy laptop* Don't need to know the stroke order to type Chinese... woo. So simplified for hand-written and both for reading and typing.

So, here is the fancy thing about Chinese... "Larger" words are mostly created with compound words. What that means is, two or more characters are used to make a word by describing something. So knowing just a few characters means you can form several words. However, this is also the reason people make such gibberish (and literal) translations of Chinese.  O
ne of my favorite examples of this is...
The word 海 (hǎi) means the sea or ocean and the word 盗 (dào) means a thief or robber/steal or rob.  When put together 海盗 literally translates as "sea thief."  Of course in English this sounds sort of stupid.  However, when you think the about the idea and not the literal words used you notice that English has a word for someone who "steals at sea."  We call them pirates.  So 海盗 (sea thieves) are pirates.

First words and lesson notes... )

The problem with LiveJournal:
We all think we are so close, but really, we know nothing about each other.
So I want you to ask me something you think you should know about me.
Something that should be obvious, but you have no idea about.
Ask away. Then post this in your LJ and find out what people don't know about you!

I tend to watch more American TV that airs in the summer rather than during the regular season. This is for mostly two reasons. 1) I have the time to watch it. Any shows I watch from fall to spring usually get stored and marathoned on random weekends. And 2) The shows are better. Normal season shows are usually annoying soap dramas like 90210 or Gossip Girl. Summer time shows are usually more fun and unique, like Eureka. I'm a scifi and fantasy girl.

And while thinking of this I totally forgot that True Blood season 2 starts next month too and a new trailer is out.

True Blood is a HBO (read: semi-pornographic ;P) show based off of Charlaine Harris' Sookie Stackhouse vampire mystery series. The original books are a comedic sometimes raunchy romance (and mystery) that takes a look at racism and other social dividers in a small southern town. However, the twist is, while normal discrimination issues are not ignored (it is the south, so black and gay are words that silence a room), the focus is the fact that vampires have publicly announced their existence and have been granted basic human rights and the vote. While the law recognizes them, they are still treated like second class citizens by most people. It's an upside down look at racism, hate crimes, inter-life-state? relationships, and the moral process that one goes through in deciding what differentiates human from animal and the way all creatures (living and dead) should be treated. Do humans treat vampires like people? Do vampires eat people?

LOL I make it sound so much deeper than it really lets on. It's, for the most part, literary fluff. It is centered around Sookie's relationships with the dead, living, and other supernatural men in her life and the trouble they all get her into... that she makes worse. And the show is not that much different. It's all about the guys. Jason, Sookie's hunky man-whore of a brother; naked for half the show, I swear (human). Sam, Sookie's scruffy but super cute and sweet boss; not as naked but just as yummy (shape-shifter, woof!). Bill, her cool and mysterious boyfriend; my least favorite of the guys but he sort of a tool so... (vampire). Eric, a divine ex-viking who now owns a night club for the fangy type; so not naked enough (vampire).

Taking a small detour from the books, True Blood is the definition of sex, drugs, and rock n' roll. And that's probably what makes it addicting.

Old Promo

New Promo

I Spy the bloodletting scene! Which makes me wonder... what delicious nondescript Asian man will play Chow? The book calls him gorgeous, fairly tall... and of mysterious Asian decent since Sookie is sadly stereotypically small town and can't tell Asian races apart. Five bucks says they go with Chinese just because of his name, even though it's speculated that Chow is not his actual name.

After sleeping on it... I realize my inner fangirl got in the way. If not for her suppressing my writer self, I totally would have seen that ending coming. While I still think it's cliched and over used... it at least makes sense. Though I am still royally pissed that they did that.

Grrr... Eureka needs to start already so I can channel this frustration elsewhere. That and Warehouse 13. I have high hopes for that too.

Okay... so coma induced fun house episodes... I can deal with.  It was amusing.
But the build up to... that final line?

American TV networks, I must ask you, why do you hate your viewers?
What is Bones to become?  A daytime soap?

1. Go to your desktop and press the Print Scrn key (located on the right side of the F12 key).
2. Open a graphics program (like Picture Manager, Paint, or Photoshop) and Paste (CTRL + V)
3. Post the picture on your blog. You can also give a short explanation on the look of your desktop if you want. You can explain why you prefer such a look or why it is full of icons. Things like that. (If you really want to know, feel free to ask.)
4. Tag five of your friends and ask them to give you a Free View of their desktops as well.

mmmmm Jae Joong. I recently had a much brighter wallpaper but needed something less straining on my eyes during finals since I was so exhausted. So, moody Jae Joong it is! I don't like icons on my desktop. I use the start menu for that. I just keep folders with all the improtant files right in reach. Also, files I'm currently working on usually stay on the desktop so XF and P+P are there. The right has files that are currently downloading. Megaupload and Filezilla are open because I'm uploadig things for Resie. :P

Cracktastic!
I think that sums up the whole show. Atashinchi no Danshi is about a poor and homeless girl who marries a rich man who saves her from her runaway father's debt collectors. Now how is that such a strange story, you ask? I mean that sounds like half the Kdramas I've seen.

Bring on the crack! )

STOP IT! Stop it right NOW!
Stop growing up. Stop growing so fast!
I mean.... holy shit you aren't even 16 yet!
STOP IT!

Why do these adorable little Korean boys keep turning into young men when I'm not looking?
New to the "holy-shit-when-did-that-happen?" hall of fame...
Yoo Seung Ho...

Yes that cute little kid who played Bae Yong Jun's younger persona in The Legend and the tightly wound kid from Alien Sam.
He's really starting to grow up... and it makes me a little sad. Anyone who knows me knows that I love this kid. He's a good actor and is just so darn cute. But when I heard about his upcoming movies and went to look for information I was... floored... by the pictures I found.

His nickname is really coming to fruition now. Little So Ji Sup has a big name to live up to and I foresee him having no trouble.
The boy is gonna be a heart breaker and fangirl magnet. Just give him a few more years to master the art of making young girls scream his name.

Brace yourself... spamage )
